How to Switch Frontside Heelflip with Jimmy Carlin
September 17, 2007
As always- Crouch. You remember how far back your foot had to be on the tail? For the switch one you want it further still. Your front foot should be in the same place as the regular version- Toe joints sitting behind the edge of your board, about halfway up the griptape.
Uncompress. You shoulders should be swinging in the switch frontside direction. Your weight should be evenly distributed across the board.
You see how early that front foot starts to flick out towards the toe edge of the board? You want to be getting that front foot flicked out to the arch of your foot by the time the tail pops.
Your back foot pops over the pre-mentioned edge- this’ll get the board naturally turning at the way. Due to this – the axis of this rotation is pretty much through the front truck bolts.
Your back foot should be following through in the motion of a switch frontside ollie – although make sure you lift up enough to let the board spin. Your front foot should be fully extended and waiting above the turning nose.
Hover. This is the part where most people fall down. It’s a trick that requires effort.
You’ll get your feet naturally connected anywhere between 90 degrees and the full rotation. Scooping in the air is the best way to correct this, but a tic tac is the usual method when you first getting it sussed.
Start to extend the legs to hit the ground.
……and bend them again to take the impact.
Pay more attention. I already told you about washing that T-shirt son.
